VIsta Redonda Neighbor's Eco Thriller Debuts on Friday

Vista Redonda resident Harvey Stone will read from, and talk about, his new book Melting Down, at 6 PM, Friday, April 22, at Collected Works Bookstore.
      Melting Down is an environmental thriller that tracks an international terrorist plot to exploit the changing climate in order to fulfill Russia’s historical destiny: world domination. It includes political intrigue, suspense, and action that span the globe from Hawaii to the Arctic and from Washington to Moscow. Within the fictional plot, Melting Down embeds key aspects of the science behind the changing climate, as well as its observed and predicted impacts. It also explores a systems-oriented approach for simultaneously solving many of today’s economic, social, and environmental problems.
     A former psychologist, turned corporate speechwriter, turned environmental consultant, Stone spent the past ten years helping corporations, municipalities and government agencies to implement a triple bottom line approach. This approach simultaneously addresses social, economic, and environmental problems. It also enables organizations to reduce their risks, lower their costs and improve their efficiency and effectiveness. Coupled with his insights into human behavior and corporate drivers, Stone’s experience led him to conclude that fiction was a dynamic method for communicating the inter-connected fragility of today’s world and the existence of viable solutions.
